YOU CAN SET DIFFRENT ICONS FOR THE BIN FOR EMPTY AND FULL.
the "wait" screen when you shut down is called Logow.sys
The "it is now safe to turn off your computer" screen is called Logos.sys
the"wait" screen when you start up is called Logo.sys
they standerd bitmap and can be edited with any painting program.
To make bitmap images be icons of themselves seach for "paint.picture" and change "defaulticon" to %1. You have to delete the old path so the value reads "%1" In some instances like when you have another program that opens bitmaps instead of MSPAINT. you have to search for"BitMap Image" and replace that "defaultIcon" to %1 also.
Remember those "Welcome to Windows 95" tips that used to pop up when you first ran windows, and how they got so annoying that you finally turned them off? wouldn't you rather see your own tips and reminders at start-up? You can.
First, put together 48 sayings;
Next, turn the tips feature back on by selecting Start/Run, type Welcome then select "Show this welcome screen next time you start Windows".
Select Start/Run and type in Regedit, then hit enter. Be sure you have a backup of the registry before you play with your registry though.
Hold down CTRL and hit F to enter the find box. In the find box, type in tips, then hit enter.
Press F3 until you see the current tips (all 48 of 'em) appear on the right side of your screen. 6.Double-click the tips on the list, and replace the value with a tip of your own. Repeat this step with as many steps as you want, then close regedit.
Fresh out of the box, Windows 95 "animates" the maximizing and minimizing of windows: A phantom sliding outline appears, growing smaller or larger as the application outline appears on the screen. Some people (cough*cough*everyone) find that animation distracting and annoying. To turn it off, follow these steps:
Open Regedit and move down to HKET_CurrentUser\Control Panel\desktop\WindowMetrics.
Look for a value called MinAnimate. If it's there (Probably because you installed the PlusPack), change the value to 0.
If it's not, then click on Edit, New, then String Value; type MinAnimate; hit enter twice; type 0; and hit enter again. restart Windows and the animation is gone when you resize windows. (sigh*)
The Windows 95 start menu has a built in stutter, a brief delay before the appearence of the programs, settings, and documents. This option was put there for the mouse newbies. Like me, if you think any intentional delay in a PC is a mortal sin, getting rid of the stutter couldn't be simpler. It makes a big diffrence.
Enter regedit and look at the HKCU\Control Panel\desktop
Look for a value called MenuShowDelay
If it's not there then you can add it. Simply click on Edit then New String Value and type MenuShowDelay
Hit Enter twice, the default value is 400 but set it to 200 (or less if your daring).
This reduces your delay by 200 milliseconds. Restart your computer to have the changes take effect.
MORE TO COME* PROMISE.
